21st WFWP Anniversary National Assembly
Dear Friends of WFWP,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to the Women’s Federation for World Peace USA (WFWP) 21st Anniversary National Assembly, “Learn to Lead - Raising the Next Generation of Women Leaders.” On Saturday, October 26, 2013, 9:00 a.m. at the University of Maryland, the Adele H. Stamp Student Union, we will explore the importance of equipping young women with the skills they need to lead. In addition, there will be a “Leadership through Service” project on October 24th, in Washington, D.C., partnering with other organizations.
The founder of WFWP, Dr. Hak Ja Han Moon, together with her late husband, the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, inaugurated WFWP in 1992, proclaiming the Era of Women. They foresaw that the time will come when women will play a central role in providing a leadership, not in competition but in partnership with men, “based not on the logic of power, but on the logic of love.” That time is now.
This pertinent and critical one-day assemblage will feature keynote speakers from Capitol Hill followed by the 2nd Annual Global Women’s Peace Network (GWPN) panel in which vibrant women leaders of all ages will address the topic, “Ingredients for a New Type of Leadership.” After lunch, participants can choose from six interactive breakout sessions to acquire "tools to lead."
The day will conclude with a banquet featuring a Bridge of Peace Ceremony on the theme of “Healing America’s Wounds,” the bestowal of the HerStory Award; Ambassadors for Peace Appointments; and a variety of performances including international soprano singer, Seiko Lee, and the Kirov Academy of Ballet ensemble.
We believe that every woman, such as you, is a leader in her own right. We invite you, your daughter, and other women - husbands and men are welcome, too - to come and magnify our capacity, rejuvenate our spirits, and empower each other to lead the path to a bright future for America. Let us unearth and ignite the example of leadership which will create happier and healthier families as the base for a peaceful world.
