Reverend Moon Prophesied January 13, 2013 would be 'Foundation Day' for an Era of Peace
In 1985, Rev. Moon stirred international controversy when he published his prediction of the imminent demise of communism. At the time the Soviet Union was at the peak of its powers, yet the prophecy was indeed fulfilled less than five years later. In recent times, many prominent figures have expressed the hope that Rev. Moon’s prophecies of an imminent world of peace could prove right again, despite the many discouraging signs in the world.
The founder of the Unification movement projected his vision of a world on the brink of dramatic change. “Ladies and gentlemen, we are living in a historic time of great transition.” He said. “It is a time for a great, historical revolution to unite the spiritual and physical worlds and to create the ideal kingdom of heaven that God has longed for since the beginning of time. We can no longer postpone or prolong the fulfillment of His wish. I have already proclaimed that January 13, 2013 will be a ‘Foundation Day.’ That day will be the actual beginning and birth of God’s kingdom,” Rev. Moon said.
Rev Moon's Role in Ending Communism
Rev. Moon also proclaimed that the current time period of world history is “the final stage, in which humanity should follow the path of living for the sake of others.” He suggested that, in his opinion, God’s heavenly kingdom could become a widely apparent reality on earth in 20 years. “The era in which we live today is the time of opening up the era of God’s kingdom of Cheon Il Guk, a time in which we can return to the heart of the one true God,” he said.

Nearly everyone has read or heard something about the founder of the Unification Church , Reverend Sun Myung Moon. Some media reports have portrayed Reverend Moon as a businessman or politician. Others have recognized him to be an extraordinarily dedicated religious leader. Who is Reverend Moon? Our answer begins with an account of his upbringing, and an encounter he had with Jesus on a Korean mountainside.
At Easter time in 1935, Jesus appeared to the young Sun Myung Moon as he was praying in the Korean mountains. In that vision, Jesus asked him to continue the work which he had begun on earth nearly 2,000 years before. Jesus asked him to complete the task of establishing God's kingdom on earth and bringing His peace to humankind.
The young Korean was stunned by this encounter, and especially by the request that had been made of him, and at first he refused. However, after deep reflection, meditation and prayer, he pledged his life to that overwhelming mission.
Throughout their lives, Rev. and Mrs. Moon have established many international organizations and institutions to promote world peace. They invested unreservedly in many fields including interreligious cooperation, projects to benefit society, intercultural activities, sports, education and the media, and have successfully led these initiatives with the aim of promoting peace and bringing salvation to humanity.
